EVENT INFORMATION

Tracker and Jacaranda FM proudly present Off the Beat ‘n Track, an exciting annual mountain biking and music event set to offer routes for family members of all ages. Rides occur in a safe and secure environment and include: 1.2km (for kids), 5km, 10km, 25km and 50km (for experienced mountain bikers). Situated almost halfway between Pretoria and Johannesburg, this event occurs in the heart of one of Gauteng’s best kept secrets – the Big Red Barn in Irene.  

Off the Beat ‘n Track is a spectacular event which combines music, family and sport. Come with your families and enjoy the amazing outdoors of the South African landscape while being entertained by celebrated musicians.Registration is now open!!

PARKING

Safe parking will be available at the venue, please keep your eye out for parking signage and traffic marshals.

KIDS ZONE

Exciting kids’ zone with loads of activities, entertainment, treasure hunts and professional child minders so parents can relax too.

WATER POINTS

We take hydration seriously, so there will be water points on the 50km, 25km, 12km and 5km events, but don’t forget to fill your camel packs and water bottles before heading off.

MEDALS

Everybody who completes Off the Beat ‘n Track will be awarded a medal at the finish line.

RACE RESULTS

Results will be available on SASeeding after the event.

MEDICAL FACILITIES

Full medical facilities are available on the route and throughout the event should you need them.

MUSIC SHOW

After a tough day out on the bike, you get to relax on the lawn and enjoy the music show. Artists include: Dr Victor, Parlatone and Refentse. 

BIKE PARK

We will provide a free and safe bike park, where you can leave your 2 wheeler and enjoy the entertainment with the family. There will also be a bike wash available, book online to save on costs.

RACE OFFICIALS

Look out for our race officials who will be stationed along the route to guide you in making your MTB experience unforgettable.

PICNIC BASKETS & FOOD

A bespoke food truck village including a delicious range of gourmet and traditional food vendors, as well as sweets and treats to top the occasion. You can bring your own picnic basket to enjoy after the ride. There will be a beer garden for your enjoyment at the finish area. Please note that no open fires will be permitted and no bottles or alcohol will be allowed into the event.

BATHROOMS

Toilets and showers will be provided at the start and finish.

LOST & FOUND

If you have lost any personal items please look out for our lost and found kiosk near the finish.

50km (No under 16 years): NO HELMET, NO RIDE

A route created for the more experienced, fitter rider as well as those who want to step up from the 15km distance. The route begins with +-2km dual track, before leading onto exciting single track (with some space to overtake). The single track takes you through grasslands with towering Blue Gum trees lining the route and some exciting obstacles. Overall riders can expect a fast trail with exciting but manageable technical sections (humps and cross over bridges) the 50km ride will have a variety of dual and single tracks throughout. The  gradient of the race is mostly  mild, with the occasional medium climb to keep you honest.

25km (No under 14 years): NO HELMET, NO RIDE

A fun and very manageable route that begins with +-2km dual track, before leading onto exciting single track through open grasslands and forests . The trail is manageable for beginners and intermediate riders. Parents and children will have a fun time together. The overall gradient of the route is very mild.

10km Family ride (No under 10 years): NO HELMET, NO RIDE

A fun and very manageable route for parents and older kids, that begins with +-2km dual track, before leading onto exciting single track through open grass lands , the route has some playful hills to keep the fun levels.

5km Family ride with kids (No under 5 years): NO HELMET, NO RIDE

A fun and very manageable route for parents and kids, that begins with +-2km dual track, before leading onto exciting single track through open grass lands , the route is very manageable and designed to keep the fun levels high.

1.2km kids ride 2 – 5 years only (No under 2 years): NO HELMET, NO RIDE

A gentle route designed so that parents can run/walk alongside their children.

What kind of bike may I ride?

Any traditional MTB bicycle that is not motorised.

Is it possible to change my seeding?

Please email us at info@saseeding.com to change your starting batch or online entry or at the registration venues the day before the event.

Where and when can I view my results?

Results will be given for all distance and can be found on SASeeding.

Is there a certain way that my child should dress for the ride?

No, as long as they have a helmet and closed shoes on.

How old do you have to be to enter the race?

  • 50km – 16 years or older
  • 25km – 14 years or older
  • 10km – 10 years or older
  • 5km – 5 years or older
  • 1.2km – 2 – 5 years only (parents can run/walk alongside)

Must my child wear a helmet?

Yes, helmets are compulsory. No helmet, no ride!

When is race number collection?

Friday, 3 April 2020 at Big Red Barn (10h00 – 17h00)

I am a resident outside of South Africa. Can I enter and how do I go about entering?

Yes, you can enter online, just like everyone else. You can use your Passport number if you do not have a South African ID number.

Is it possible to change my starting batch, or entries?

You can change your starting batch or online entry at Entry Ninja or at the registration venues the day before the event.

·         You will be notified 4 weeks before the event of your acceptance to participate at OTBT 2020.

·         Strictly no personal generators are allowed without prior permission – this is a legal Health & Safety issue.
